A few weeks ago, I learned that the first annual Vintage Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet at the Ossipee Valley Fairgrounds in Hiram, Maine was scheduled to be held on Sunday June 27, 2021. With the recent purchase and arrival of the newest addition to our collection, a 1908 Harley Davidson "Strap Tank", I was anxious to get out and display this beautifully restored rare piece of motorcycle history. My friend, John, and I loaded the strap tank and his beautifully restored 1948 HD WL into the trailer and off we went. The almost four hour ride was very enjoyable as the scenery through central Massachusetts and New Hampshire is breathtaking at any time of the year.

Approximately forty motorcycles were on display at the show.

The swap meet, although sparsely attended, did have a few rare items available for purchase. I found an early brass Klaxon horn which will be added to my 1904 Cameron project and a set of vintage motorcycle tires for another restoration project. It was nice to see new faces and like-minded collectors along with many of our old friends who attend other swap meets and shows.

Our two bikes drew lots of attention and the 1908 "Strap Tank" was awarded first place. A beautifully restored fifties Pan Head took Best Of Show honors. I do believe this event shows lots of potential and may become a must go to show from here on.
